h.Energy is a week-long county-wide open exhibition of events and activities about living more sustainably in Herefordshire.
Based on the huge success of h.Energy 2010, 2011 was a chance to learn and share more... about how we can reduce our energy use, and about how we can use local resources to create a healthier, more energy efficient future for our county.
There were nearly twice as many events on offer this year, and we teamed up with Herefordshire Council and Halo leisure to run the h.Energy pledge, with some great prizes for people who took up our energy saving challenges.
For details of the events that happened during h.Energy 2011 please download the brochure attached below.
Carbon emissions (or more accurately greenhouse gas emissions) are the cause of climate change. They are released when fuels are burned in vehicles, homes, power stations and factories.
Reducing our carbon emissions is essential if we are to reduce the effects of climate change around the world.
On the bright side, reducing our carbon emissions also brings rewards in the short term. By insulating our homes, getting on a bike, and eating food that we have grown locally we will be saving money and giving ourselves a better level of health and fitness. By adopting sustainable low energy lifestyles we will also benefit the local economy, and therefore the people who live and work in Herefordshire.
And there is a lot already happening... h.Energy week provides an opportunity for those of you who are leading the way to share what you have learnt with others around the county; and for those wondering where to begin, it offers a range of ideas, activities and workshops.
The ultimate objective of h.Energy week is to demonstrate that using renewable local resources, avoid waste and reducing energy usage is just common sense, as fuel prices continue to rise and the economy continues to struggle.
