Stoke Lacy and District Community Power

I was only one of 80 people who enjoyed a magnificent community breakfast on Saturday morning. The Village Hall runs breakfasts as a reasonably regular feature, but I understand not with quite these numbers usually. Also, it was the first time that local food was served up. This included some rather delicious free-range meat from Legges of Bromyard, and local apple juice from Jus. Stoke Lacy and District Community Power are also planning to bring Jus in with their juicing service for local residents looking to process fruit from their own trees.

There were lots of local produce stalls selling a range of crafts, vegetables, baked products, jams and chutneys.

Dried apples were also on sale with a demonstration of a rather neat hand-powered apple peeler, slicer and corer.

Many visitors were local but the event had also attracted tourists holidaying in the area and a few people from further afield in the county lured by the breakfast offer. In total over 100 people visited in the course of the morning.

Information was also available on every table about energy saving and practical measures for householders, and many a discussion was to be hear on these matters.

The event gave the already very active community organisation a well-deserved boost and apparently acted as a focus for getting various things in place such as the launch of the new logo, proudly displayed on the t-shirts of the numerous and welcoming helpers.
