Reeves Hill Windfarm

Brief description of the activity or action:

In conjunction with Marches Green Energy Ltd, a local company established to develop wind power in the Lingen area, we are planning a small windfarm consisting of four turbines on The Reeves Hill.

Estimated impact of the activity on CO2 emmissions:
If constructed the windfarm could generate enough energy from renewable sources to power the equivalent of up to 7,326 homes.
Additional outcomes:
There are many benefits that come with developing a windfarm, including generating clean, safe energy; reducing CO2 emissions; and helping secure our country's energy supply for the future. If the windfarm is developed, we will set up a community benefit fund. The windfarm would also provide employment opportunities in the local area and the renewable energy industry in general, which has been estimated to provide up to 35,000 jobs by 2020 (DTI, 2004). The West Midlands regional Wind Energy Resource Assesment (Nov 2004) identified a resource of 65MW to 150MW of wind energy capacity to be captured in the region. Currently, none of this capacity has been constructed. The Reeves Hill windfarm would make a substantial contribution to this target.
