Cafe@All Saints already benefits from the wealth of local produce we are lucky enough to enjoy in Herefordshire - goat's cheese from Neal's yard creamery, Shepherd's ice cream and Dunkerton's cider amongst others find their way regularly on to our menu. For h.energy week we will be adding soups and puds made solely from locally sourced ingredients to our menu - butternut squash and sage soup, Breinton apple and cider tart and many others. find out more

Cartridge World in Union Street, Hereford, and West Street, Leominster, will be taking in old printers for responsible recycling. All printers are sent to a proper recycling plant where the metal is stripped out and plastic shredded before the usable parts are then made into recycled goods such as garden benches. Don't take your old printer to the tip - take it to Cartridge World where they will recycle it free of charge. find out more

Come and see the first installation of PV Solar Panels (a 10Kw system) on a medieval Church building in Ledbury.  Small exhibition about the panels, with photographs, and a meter in Church displaying generation in real time (and historically).  Church open every day throughout the year. find out more

Last year Goodrich Village Hall secured £50,000 for alternative technologies from the Low Carbon Building Program & the Community Sustainable Development programme. The technologies include Solar Thermal, Solar PV, and Air Source Heat Pumps. Further energy saving measures have been taken with the help of Awards For All, Herefordshire Grass Roots and the Severn Waste Environmental Fund. A further £20,000 of funding has been used to install an insulated suspended ceiling with energy saving lighting, Double Glazing, an insulated Wooden Floor, andCavity Wall & Loft Insulation. Come and see Growing Local's educational garden and experience cooking with the freshly picked produce. Pat, Heather and Lisa will be on hand from 10am until 3pm throughout the week to show you how children from our County's primary schools are achieving 'on the plot'. You will be able to pick and cook the available produce and cook on outdoor cooking equipment . Learn more about 'growing your own', eating local, reducing  food miles and making a more sustainable community. Join us at a number of h.Energy events throughout the h.Energy week. We'll be co-hosting a welcome day at Clehonger Village Hall on Saturday 15th October, come along and talk to the team about PV installations large and small. Enjoy Solar powered refreshments and come race on our Solar Powered race track. On Monday 17th October we'll be exhibiting at The Courtyard, Hereford supporting Newleaf's h.Energy event if we have space we'll bring the race track along! We'll be in two places at once on Saturday 22nd October supporting the h.Energy event in High Town, Hereford as well as being on hand to answer any questions at Mrs Carolyn Giles, Arrowdale 41B High Street Off Mill Furlong Lane, Kington, HR5 3BJ. Mrs Giles has both Solar Hot Water and Solar PV installations available to view. Wind & Sun are based at Humber Marsh Nature Reserve and have worked in the renewable energy industry since 1984, originally as installers and now as distributors to the UK installer network.  They are specialists in off grid solutions for remote communities and installed the first UK grid connected system.  Visiting their site provides an opportunity to view a working PV system, tracker and wind turbine.  Staff from Wind & Sun will be available to answer your queries about the technical aspects of installing and living with these technologies. find out more

An opportunity to visit a home and see energy saving (solid wall insulation, double glazed sash windows, triple glazed casement wiondows) and generation (solar hot water, micro-hydro and wood burner CH/HW) installations, and discuss them, including their performance and cost. We have just confirmed funding for photovoltaic panels to be installed at beginning of September. The event will be celebrate this achievement, and is organised in partnership with Southern Solar. There will be a programme of speakers on sustainable energy and architecture, information stalls and activities for families, including solar powered racetrack and refreshments, a quiz and art competition, not to mention tea and cakes. All free, although buying raffle tickets will be encouraged as we need to replenish our funds! In the morning at 11.15 Richard Priestley will give a general overview of sustainable energy. The "official opening " will be at 1.30 , followed by a talk on Sustainable Archtecture by Jonathan Hines from Architype, the local award winning architectural firm , and a further exploration of projects nationally and internationally from Richard Priestley . There will be a forum for discussion at the end of the afternoon. We think this is a first in providing entertainment and information about sustainable energy in our locality and all are welcome to come for the whole day, or just drop by, to find out more.  find out more
