HVA are delighted to announce that Melinda Connelly from Children in Need is coming to speak at their March Funding breakfast.

She will give us a great overview of all their funding programmes, how to apply to them and what they are looking to fund. Its a great opportunity to meet the funder and ask any questions you may have and present any project ideas to them for feed back .

European Funding

RE:think Energy

RE:think Energy is a grant scheme available to SME’s in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Telford and Wrekin to help businesses improve their energy efficiency and develop renewable energy technology solutions.

RE:think Energy provides two forms advice and grant support to ensure that proper planning takes place before any installation is started.

People's Postcode Trust

The People's Postcode Trust, a trust set up by the "People's Postcode Lottery" in April 2009, has announced that the next funding round will re-open for applications on the 9th January 2012.

The Trust operates two grant schemes:

* Grants for £2,000 and under

* Grants over £2,000

Grants are available to small organisations and community groups operating in the areas of:

Community Sustainable Energy Programme

The Building Research Establishment has announced that it is inviting not for profit organisations such as community groups, charities, schools, colleges and faith groups, etc to apply for last funding round to install heat generating technologies and energy efficiency measures.

Please note that this funding round provides capital grants for heat generating technologies and energy efficiency measures only.

The deadline for the receipt of completed applications will be 5pm Friday 29 February 2012.

The Community Technology Grant Fund

This fund has been developed to encourage greater use of technologies in community settings.

The grant is open to village hall / community centre committees, as well as parish and town councils, to purchase equipment such as lap top, projector, screen or other technology that local groups would find useful.

Business Enterprise Fund

Shropshire and Herefordshire Councils have secured European Regional Development Funding to run the Business Enterprise Fund jointly, with £500,000 available in each county for start-ups and businesses to bid into over the next three years.

£500, 000 fund to support demonstration projects which encourage the collection of food waste from businesses and public sector buildings.

The fund, totalling £500,000 over the next 3 years, is managed by WRAP on behalf of the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

It will give the private sector, local authorities and social enterprises the economic support for developing demonstration projects to show good practice and encourage the further development of food waste collection services from businesses in England.

It will support greater recycling of food waste by anaerobic digestion and improved provision of recycling services to businesses, particularly to SMEs.

£1.1 million enterprise fund

Herefordshire Business Enterprise Fund has been launched today with two new grant schemes. These could be useful to some of our rural businesses but please note that there is set eligibility criteria - one of the ineligible sectors is Land-based businesses including farms and other primary food producers.

Regional Growth Fund to help Small Businesses

The funding is expected to create at least 4,000 jobs and unlock around £500 million of new investment by small and medium businesses (SMEs).

RBS, NatWest and HSBC have agreed to facilitate the distribution of the £95 million - which is part of the government's Regional Growth Fund. RBS and NatWest will facilitate £70 million and HSBC will facilitate £25 million. The banks will not profit financially from the administration of these schemes.
